Chemetal goes to the Oscars in golden style. One of the most famous Awards shows in the world, The Oscars, is beamed to over one billion people. What has that got to do with Chemetal, and That Metal Company?

Chemetal goes to the Oscars

The set design for the 2016 Oscars features about 100 sheets of Chemetal brass designs #325, #310 and #328. All that glitters just about really is gold, and it’s pure metal; Chemetal, from whom That Metal Company sources their superior finishes and largest selection.

For the fourth consecutive year in a row, Emmy and Tony-winning designer, Derek McLane, has designed the set for the 88th Annual Academy Awards. For a more modern feel, McLane has incorporated more digital aspects and screens to engage the television viewers. He says that whilst it’s a celebration of the nominees, the design takes into account those viewing from home.

A set rendering is shown above from architecturaldigest.com which has an interview with the set designer, Derek McLane. We’ve learned that our metal materials are in luxurious company on the proscenium arch with Swarovski Crystals embedded into them. The changes in set lighting, background enhancements, and set accessories give the viewer a powerful appreciation of glittering gold, the warmth of brass, and the sparkle of thousands of tiny crystals.

Chemetal goes to the Oscars with a thoroughly modern product that gives a timeless appeal to the set design. It could be from the past, it could be from the future. It could be Art Deco, Jazz-era, or a glimpse into our lives of another millennium. Such is the dramatic appeal and ageless beauty of metals, especially our #310, #325, and #328 brass metals. What could add more glamour than an Oscar awards set?
