The Girls Behind the Metal

The girls behind the metal are best friends, Ali and Ange. After a magnificent venture to the north of Italy, they came home inspired and motivated. Their dream was to build their business and share it more creatively with a wider community. 24/7 for 4 weeks clearly was not enough time to spend together!

Ali and Ange became the girls behind the metal who came home ready to share the possibilities of metal with the interior design industry.

The girls behind the metal started as exclusive distributors for USA company, Chemetal. The business supplied designer sheets of real metal to building projects throughout Australia and New Zealand. The company then rebranded as That Metal Company to encompass Ali and Ange’s own design talents and expand the company offering.

In addition to distributing the biggest range of metal sheets in Australia and New Zealand, TMC provides table tops and metal tiles. The beauty, warmth, and uniqueness of metal has endless application in interior design. That Metal Company offers a personal service to help seek out hard-to-find finishes and looks for their project partners.

Ali and Ange have a vibrant and changeable daily working environment. It allows them the pleasure of working with the most creative interior design experts in the country and talking substrates and mitred corners with joiners and builders with ease. The girls behind the metal have great skills perfect to collaborate with all aspects of the building and interiors industries.

You’ll find them talking to clients, on the forklift, packing orders and attending presentations. Ali and Ange are proud to be involved in every aspect of their business. That’s why they work with you on a personal level from start to finish. And it’s why they get so excited when their metals become projects.

About That Metal Company

That Metal Company is the exclusive distributor of unique and beautiful Chemetal USA metal sheets for commercial and domestic interior building projects throughout Australia and New Zealand. The biggest supplier with the largest metal selection in Australia, That Metal Company is able to supply over 100 designs including brass, bronze, blackened, oxidised, anodised, zinc looks, and coppers. All product sheets are real metal that can be used and installed just like a laminate. No special cutting or installation tools are required.

The industry often refers to our products as metal sheet laminates. They are, however, 100% metal but can be used wherever you’d use a laminate.

Many of the That Metal Company metal sheets are made from deeply brushing, aging and adding patinas by hand and machine. Our designs are unique works of art, created with a manufacturing consistency to ensure repeatability. They are sourced from some of the best metal designs from across the globe.
