Product Description
The Homapal High Pressure Metallic Laminates are composed of various metallic foils, including aluminium, copper, brass, zinc, and chrome-plated brass, on a high-pressure laminate (HPL) backer. Each series features different material compositions and protective coatings:
- 100–103 Series: 99.8% anodized aluminium (up to 0.025” thickness)
- 200 Series: Copper, brass, and aluminium foil on an HPL backer (0.055” total thickness)
- 300 Series: Copper or brass metal foil on an HPL backer, sealed with UV-cured lacquer (RD 1383 or RD 1384, ¼–½ mm thickness)
- 400/500 Series: 99.8% aluminium (0.020” thickness), HPL backer (optional), UV-cured lacquer coating
- 700 Series: Bright aluminium and bright brass aluminium; includes products #706 and #709 (Homapal copper, UV-cured lacquer), and #710 (stainless steel foil on HPL backer)
- 800 Series: Metal foil (brass, copper/zinc, chrome-plated brass) (0.016” thickness)
- 900 Series: 99.8% aluminium foil (0.025” thickness)
All metal foils are supplied and manufactured by Homapal Plattenwerke GmbH, Germany.
Application & Limitations
- Each product must be supplied with an installation and usage manual.
- Maximum gross calorific value must be documented separately where applicable, per SOLAS Chapter II-2, Regulation 5.3.2.
- If using an adhesive different from the one tested, it must be retested for low flame spread characteristics in accordance with IMO 2010 FTP Code Part 5.
Testing & Certification
- Tested in accordance with: IMO FTPC Parts 2 and 5, compliant with IMO 2010 FTP Code Chapter 8.
- Test reports issued by: VTEC Laboratories Inc., New York, USA
- Certification follows: Standard for Certification No. 1.2, Type Approval (January 2013)
Marking & Periodic Assessment
- The product or packaging must be marked with the manufacturer’s name, type designation, and fire-technical rating.
- DNV GL surveyors may conduct periodic assessments at any time during the validity period and at least once every two years, per Standard for Certification No. 1.2, Type Approval, Item 4.
